by GRACE MOEN – Content Writer for Health 2.0 covering news, trends, and reflections.
Described by my mother (who as luck would have it, is a native Clevelander) as a “super secret, fantastic place” and named by National Geographic as “Best of the World 2018”, Cleveland, Ohio is not to be underestimated. “Onion-domed churches and cold-brew cafes on streets a-flicker with gas porch lights might summon images of Krakow or Budapest. But this is Cleveland.” (National Geographic). Spectacular views across Lake Erie paired with a burgeoning tech scene, incredible local food, and home to the famed Cleveland Clinic, Health 2.0 & HIMSS bring you Dev4Health in a true destination. In preparation for the two-day ‘community and code’ extravaganza next month, we pulled together a few recommendations that we think will bring your visit to the next level…
Cleveland became a major player in exciting tech and innovation while we were all still enamoured with the Bay Area. In the last year alone Cleveland has claimed bigger and better bragging rights than ever before.
There is clearly a lot of action in health tech going on in Cleveland right now. And for two days, the hub of that action will be at Dev4Health. While you’re in town, check out some of our favorite local hangs which are all also a stone’s throw away from the HIMSS Innovation Center.
And if you get some down time before your flight, we’d highly recommend you play tourist at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where The Beatles exhibit in on view or visit the Cleveland Clinic, the shining star of midwest healthcare. “The Clinic’s campus is a world apart, evoking an upscale resort or an airport’s international terminal — an alternate universe where smokers and fast-food restaurants are banned, where foreign-language speakers are numerous and where live music and farmers markets are frequent.” (POLITICO) With three full time art curators, you can tour the Clinic’s impressive and expansive art collection which rivals that of any major museum.
And if all this isn’t enough, the sunsets over Lake Erie are unparalleled…
