PANEL: How Science and Technology are Changing Patient Care in Oncology

While our ultimate goal is to keep people well, we cannot forget about the patients who already need treatment.  This first session focused on the patient and how technology is changing patient care. There was a focus on oncology as we dive into genomics and other –omics technologies that are rapidly making their way to clinicians and into Electronic Health Care Records (EHRs). This is the convergence of technology, science, and healthcare. Enabled by technology, how does this new information change the way that patients get treated? We heard from healthcare providers, company executives and physicians working in technology across the spectrum of biomarker development, translational work, recruitment for clinical trials, and clinical decision support.
